Iran film expert to judge at Brussels event

The 11th Millenium Int'l Documentary Film Festival is to host Iranian film scholar Leila Nayeb Ghanbar Hosseini.

Iranian film scholar Leila Nayeb Ghanbar Hosseini is to serve as juror at the international competition jury panel of the 11th Millenium International Documentary Film Festival. 

Hosseini has a rich resume working as jury for the international section of Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC). 

She has also experience in festival programming for Cinéma Vérité International Documentary Film Festival in Iran since 2008.  

Beside promoting, distributing and presenting Iranian films in different film festivals and cultural events, she has also participated as a jury member in international film festivals.

The jury grid of the Millenium Film Festival is also composed of Balkan Documentary Center director Martichka Bozhilova and Millenium Festival senior advisor Antonio Vigilante.  

Freddy Sartor, Dan Cukier, Nina Toussaint and Yves Calbert make other members of the jury members.

Iran has also an active presence in the festival with a total of four documentary films to vie in various sections of the event.

‘Women with Gunpowder Earrings’ by Reza Farahmand, ‘Light, Shade, Life’ by Shahriyar Pourseyedian, ‘#Expression’ by Belal Taheri and ‘HE’ by Sam Kalantari are the lineup to be screened at the event.  

The Millenium Festival, since its creation in 2009, “highlights films whose themes are linked to the major challenges and objectives of the 21st century and which reflect humanity's dreams and ambitions for a more fair and equitable world.”

The upcoming edition of the festival will be held on March 22-30, 2019 in Brussels, Belgium.
